On The Prowl, Tiger Study
Reworked Tiger Study
Tiger Study has been improved. This is a refining of the original Tiger Study I painted more than two years ago. It has been propped up against the studio wall as I always felt the background was not satisfactory but I was stuck for ideas on how to marry the dominant tiger against the background.
I finally decided on a bamboo/leaf approach but the initial Tiger Study was too strong.
Branches and leaves across the tiger also didn’t work and bit by bit I slowly reduced the background until I felt it was a comfortable ‘fit’ with the tiger. Then I added highlights to break up the uniformity.
Now On The Prowl, Tiger Study is in my own collection and hanging, framed and off the studio floor.
Japanese Exhibitions
Sadly, I had an infection which has forced me to miss the much anticipated run of one man exhibitions in Japan this June and July.
This was a great disappointment as I had worked hard for months to complete work for these shows but I’m confident that my friends in Japan who have worked very hard to prepare for the exhibitions will give it their best endeavours.
