Most recent new original paintings
The series of exhibitions in Japan with new original paintings finished in mid June and it was lovely to meet some of the charming collectors who once again added to their collection.
I always feel humbled that people collect what I paint and it spurs me on to work at fresh ideas and challenges.
The exhibitions where concentrated around Tokyo this time and I have included some photos of the last exhibition in central Tokyo. Its a fabulous gallery and I always feels privileged to be invited for solo exhibitions at such a lovely venue.
From Japan I went to France where my wife and I met up with one of my sons and his family so it was an ideal opportunity to capture some of the southern french rivers and the amazing lavender fields.
I always like to look for an untried and a different angle in my work but one that also remains natural and I suspect that working with the lavender fields will be quite testing.
I feel that over the last five to ten years my painting work has improved probably due to the concentrated, continuous landscape work I have painted for exhibitions in Japan.
I’m always wary of getting stale and I have been collecting African wildlife reference material when I visit Kenya so I am quite excited about getting some of this onto canvas. I have painted wildlife for many years and I’m really looking forward to trying some new ideas, so watch this space…..
